SPECTRE's Christoph Waltz on why we need to watch Bond's latest movie

screen-poster

With his role as calculating SPECTRE nemesis Franz Oberhauser, Oscar winning Christoph Waltz is one of the most memorable things about the movie.

The Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained actor tears into his role with palpable glee, establishing a dark and murky connection with Daniel Craig's 007 that eventually has wide-ranging repercussions.

And Waltz says that in addition to the action, car chases and glamorous locations, the movie has important and intriguing things to say about the world in which we live.

"It deals with a very pressing problem of our time," he tells Collider. "Digitalization of our time, the collapse of humans into digits and algorithms, it's all in a cloud... But someone creates this cloud. Turning humans into data."

Thought-provoking stuff. And of course, this meaty content goes hand in hand with all the Bond staples we know and love: gadgets, girls, chases and a love of Queen and Country. Little wonder that the movie has taken $550 million worldwide so far.
