Paramount have released the second trailer for Biblical epic Noah, directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Russell Crowe.
The first trailer teased the apocalyptic visions that befall Noah (Crowe), prompting him to build an ark to prepare for an Earth-levelling flood. The second presents even more jaw-dropping sights, ranging from a fireball-illuminated sky to enormous geysers of water gushing from the ground.
There are plenty of other attention-grabbing images, including a brief shot of someone grabbing an apple (in what must surely be a reference to the Garden of Eden) and the awesome sight of a landscape being set on fire. Coupled with the dramatic, Hans Zimmer-esque score and plenty of portentous quotes ("Man corrupted this world and filled it with violence… So we must be destroyed," says Methuselah, played by Anthony Hopkins), it would seem as if Aronofsky has spared no expense.
Glimpses of the other cast members – including Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins and Ray Winstone – remain brief. Nevertheless, the prospect of Black Swan director Aronofsky tackling the Biblical story certainly has us intrigued.
