Spectacular first trailer for Darren Aronofksy's Noah starring Russell Crowe

screen-poster

The first trailer for Biblical epic Noah has finally arrived, resplendent with spectacular effects, a brawny lead in the form of Russell Crowe and beards. Lots of beards.

In the film, Crowe's Noah is compelled to build an ark following a series of disturbing visions in which he's witness to the destruction of the Earth.

The trailer offers the kind of lush visuals that we'd expect from Requiem For a Dream and Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky – the depiction of the flood rising up through the Earth in geyser form is especially spectacular. The Icelandic landscapes also look spectacular and we have Crowe's macho charisma grounding events in front of the camera.

The trailer also gives intriguing hints of the conflicts between Noah and Ray Winstone's villain Tubal-cain. We also finally get a look at the great Anthony Hopkins as Methuselah, whose rich tones lend gravitas to proceedings.

Watch the trailer and let us know what you think. Noah is released on 28 March 2014.
