Awards favourite Manchester by the Sea stuns Unlimited audiences

screen-poster

It nabbed a Golden Globe for lead actor Casey Affleck and has just received six BAFTA nominations including Best Film. Manchester by the Sea is sweeping away critics and audiences on a tide of emotion, being the harrowing and humane story of a troubled man who is forced to confront his past when taking guardianship of his nephew.

Last night saw our advance Unlimited screening of the movie, which goes on wide release this Friday. So what did audiences make of it? Here's Richard's reaction to kick things off.

Ken Major agrees, praising the movie's blend of difficult and light moments.

Rickie is another viewer who admits to being stunned by both the movie and Affleck's performance.

Damian Or Star Lord (which is it?) is tipping the movie for major Oscar success.

Cat also complimented the efforts of Affleck's co-star, Michelle Williams.

And Sue is equally enthusiastic.

On the downside? It seems like the hype may have got a bit too much for Alfie.

And Lee says the movie was something of a mixed bag.
