Michael Fassbender is Macbeth in dramatic new trailer

screen-poster

"O, full of scorpions is my mind..." GCSE classes and Shakespeare experts up and down the country take note: a new Macbeth trailer has been released, and it means bloody business.

Remarkable 12 Years a Slave and Prometheus Michael Fassbender plays the troubled Scottish duke whose bloodthirsty seizure of the King's crown results in carnage and chaos. Inception's Marion Cotillard plays the insidious Lady Macbeth with the excellent cast also including Paddy Considine, Sean Harris, David Thewlis and Jack Reynor.

With the powerhouse duo of Fassbender and Cotillard promising to invigorate the Bard for a new audience, behind the camera director Justin Kurzel looks set to deliver a mist-strewn, atmospheric and visually striking take on the play. Could this prove to be the defining adaptation of the tragedy?

More than that, are we prophesying potential awards buzz? We don't have a bubbling witch's cauldron to be sure but with this cast, it's worth taking notice. Macbeth is released on 2nd October.
