Leonardo DiCaprio wanted for Joker origins movie

It's been reported that Suicide Squad's Jared Leto isn't happy that Warner Bros are busy recruiting for a brand new Joker actor. It all stems from their planned Joker origin story, to be produced by Martin Scorsese and directed by The Hangover's Todd Phillips.

More specifically, Leto is said to be angry that Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio is being courted for the role. The latter is of course a Scorsese regular from the likes of The Wolf of Wall Street and The Departed, and it could be the director connection that clinches him the role. Plus, he's already played deranged psychos in the likes of Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained.

Pitched as being separate from the DC Extended Universe series of movies, it aims to be a "gritty, realistic crime drama set in the underworld of Gotham city and will explain how 'bullying shaped the villain's twisted psyche."

Paul Bettany joins the Han Solo movie

Talking of filmmakers casting their favourite actors, Ron Howard has brought one of his old chums on board for the Star Wars spin-off. Social media favourite Howard confirmed the news on Twitter.

A Beautiful Mind
and Da Vinci Code star Bettany has been cast in an as-yet-undisclosed role. The news comes as actor Michael Kenneth Williams departs the movie, which casts Alden Ehrenreich as young Han and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. Emilia Clarke, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Woody Harrelson and Thandie Newton also star.

Is Bettany playing Williams' character? It remains to be seen. The film is scheduled for release on 25th May 2018.

Creed 2 will begin filming next year

Back in 2015 director Ryan Coogler restored a sense of gritty authenticity to the Rocky franchise. His critically acclaimed spin-off movie Creed expanded the focus of the series and introduced us to Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan), the son of Rocky Balboa's (Sylvester Stallone) former rival Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers).

Now Sly has said that the sequel will begin shooting in 2018. Like Ron Howard, the movie champ confirmed the news via social media.

Stallone is overseeing the script although a director isn't yet confirmed (Coogler is currently putting the finishing touches on Marvel's Black Panther, due out in February 2018).
