It has been years in the making, but now we’re just mere months away from finally seeing the Justice League together on the big screen.
The big names are all there: Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) etc, but there are so many other DC heroes out there who deserve their chance in the spotlight.
It might be too late this time around, but with a sequel already being planned, we’ve decided to put together a list of just some of the other DC characters we’d love to see as a part of the team.
We have every reason to believe that Superman will be making an appearance in some form. However his fate at the end of Batman vs. Superman didn’t seem too promising.
Existing trailers have yet to reveal a glimpse of Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel, nor was he present during the panel at SDCC, but fans remain confident that our favourite Kryptonian will play a key role in the movie, however extensive his screen time may be. Even if Jason Momoa wants us to believe otherwise!
Bruce Wayne has already relied on Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) in order to get access to some of his Justice League recruits.
Sure he might have warned her to shut down the Suicide Squad, but in desperate times surely it helps to know there is a whole team ready and waiting to defeat evil. (Or at least, something more evil than evil.)
Whilst some members of the Suicide Squad were better received by audiences than others, there is no denying the success it was at the box office, and so it would make sense for DC to at least name drop these potential new recruits.
Kara Zor-El has been introduced to a whole new audience thanks to the creation of her own TV series starring Meliaa Benoist. So why not capitalize on this by introducing her into the Justice League?
There’d certainly be no harm in including another woman to the team. We’d also love the opportunity to see Superman and Supergirl teaming up against evil on the big screen.
After all if Barry Allen can still be a part of the DCEU in spite of his existing TV series (in which he's played by another actor entirely, Grant Gustin), why shouldn’t Kara be the same?
Nightwing has appeared in various incarnations – famously it was the persona adopted by Dick Grayson following his departure as Robin.
At the end of Batman vs. Superman, Bruce Wayne has rejected his cynical outlook on life in favour of adopting a more positive approach, a decision which leads to him enlisting the help of the Justice League.
With Bruce finally accepting that he can’t save the world all on his own, who is to say he couldn’t enlist the help of Nightwing to protect Gotham in his absence?
Like Kara, Martian Manhunter has already been introduced to the DC TV Universe at the hands of actor David Harewood.
However, the series has only scratched the surface of J’onn J’onzz true potential, with so much more left to be explored.
Martian Manhunter was a key player in the original comics, and has remained a fan favourite ever since, so surely adding him to the Justice League makes sense? And with his human identity as a detective, it would be easy to even include a cameo as an indication of what’s to come.
So there we have it! As the Justice League evolves we remain optimistic that the team will only grow bigger and stronger - after all how many new members have The Avengers had since they first started out?
