Jurassic World continues to make the blockbuster competition extinct

Proving once again that it has the strength of a rampaging Indominus Rex and the longevity of a mighty Tyrannosaur, Jurassic World devoured the American box office during the Independence Day weekend.

According to figures from BBC News, the fourth movie in the Jurassic Park series added a meaty £30.9m to its gargantuan $568.2m total. This makes it the fourth-highest grossing movie of all time in the US.

So whilst the dinos may be extinct, the franchise is far from going the same way. Forbes reports that the movie has outpaced both this year's Avengers: Age of Ultron and the final Harry Potter movie to amass an enormous £1.385b worldwide. That makes it the fifth-highest grossing movie to date.

So, if you've been living on a far-flung tropical island over the past month and somehow haven't watched the movie, click here to book your tickets for Jurassic World
