It’s out next year. So here’s everything we know so far about the hotly anticipated dino sequel.
It doesn’t have a title yet
...So let’s call it Jurassic World 2 for the mo. Which is almost certainly what it won’t be called. (And I think we can discount Jurassic Park 5 and all)
It’s started filming
The crew have already landed at Pinewood Studios to shoot the movie’s interior scenes. Long-time producer Frank Marshall revealed on Twitter that work has begun, posting a photo from his London headquarters.
The movie will (partly) filmed in Wales!
Yes, you read that right. In the Brecon Beacons to be precise. No word yet whether the Beacons will be doubling for somewhere else or whether these scenes will be set IN Wales, but we’re crossing our fingers and toes that this will be the first Jurassic movie to be set in the UK. Tidy.
There’s no Colin Trevorrow this time
Sadly the director of Jurassic World is busy prepping Star Wars: Episode IX (due in 2019), so directorial duties on JW2 are being taken by A Monster Calls’ JA Bayona. Trevorrow, who is a producer on the new film, has said about his replacement, "We're moving it into new territory. JA Bayona is an incredible director and I know he'll push the boundaries of what a Jurassic movie is. I think it's important that we take risks. A franchise must evolve or perish.”
Expect to be scared
Trevorrow has promised the film will be more "suspenseful and scary" than its predecessor: "It's just the way it's designed; it's the way the story plays out.”
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are BACK
Yep, Owen Grady and Claire Dearing will be back. Phew
“Put the notion in the bag!”
A newcomer to the Jurassic World team will be Silence of the Lambs actor Ted Levine. As who, we have no idea.
Toby Jones and Rafe Spall are also in it
Two British actors… Is there any clue in there, we wonder…?
7 June 2018
That’s the date to put in your diaries.
