IT sequel gets 2019 release date

Now we’ve all seen IT (and if you haven’t, why not?!), then you'll know that this is only chapter one of Stephen King’s spine-tingling story. Chapter two will, we're told, fast-forward the action 27 years to when the members of the Losers’ Club are in their 40s and ready to do battle with a resurrected Pennywise.

Well, given IT’s barnstorming box office (it’s now the highest-grossing horror film OF ALL TIME), it was only a matter of time before Warner Bros confirmed the sequel, and now they have, and it has a locked in release date of 6 September 2019 (in the States that is – no word yet on when it’ll appear in the UK).

Although the second movie will take place in 2016, director Andy Muschietti has said he still wants the cast of the first movie to appear, and plans flashback in the as-yet-unwritten script.

“On the second movie, that dialogue between timelines will be more present,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “If we’re telling the story of adults, we are going to have flashbacks that take us back to the ’80s and inform the story in the present day.”

If you haven’t seen IT, then get yourself down to your nearest Cineworld NOW! This is one that it’s not cool to miss.
