On-screen relationships that turned off-screen… #FiftyShadesDarker

On 10th February 2017, kinky millionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) rekindle their illicit Fifty Shades of Grey romance in E.L. James sequel Fifty Shades Darker.

With the rumour mill in overdrive about the alleged off-screen relationship between the two red-hot stars, we thought we'd explore those other occasions when steamy on-screen chemistry led to tabloid-baiting off-screen romance!

Brangelina (or not, as the case may be)

They used to be one of the world's greatest power couples who felt the first spark whilst shooting hit 2005 assassin comedy Mr & Mrs Smith. But of course the last few days have confirmed Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are no more.

At the time of shooting the movie, Pitt was married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston. However rumours about Pitt's infidelity on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith ultimately led to complications and a break up of the golden couple.

The Pitt/Aniston divorce was announced in early 2005, after which time Bradgelina came, saw and conquered – at least until September 2016 when this seemingly invincible union came to an end.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis

From friend zone to end zone! Bad Moms actress Kunis, 5 years younger than her eventual beau Kutcher (The Butterfly Effect), met him on the set of That 70’s Show, admitting that it would’ve been "inappropriate to make a move on him".

Fast forward a few years, both in their early 20’s, and they were barely talking. At most, it was the usual: "Hey! How’s it going? Like everything’s good! Great!" and that was that.

If that isn’t Hollywood enough for you, what is?

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone

The picture-perfect pair first encountered each other during Emma Stone’s screen test for superhero blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man in 2010.

Two years later whilst promoting the movie, Garfield recalled feeling an immediate connection to his co-star at the audition. But the pair didn’t immediately start dating.

That’s because both were in long-term relationships. Six years ago, Stone was linked to Kieran Culkin (Macaulay Culkin's brother) and Garfield was associated with Shannon Woodward. November 2011 was when G-Stone officially became public.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner

Despite the considerable shortcomings of Affleck's 2003 superhero flop Daredevil, there was one positive aspect he took away from it: he found his eventual wife in the form of co-star Jennifer Garner.

In fact they first met on the set of Michael Bay's World War II epic Pearl Harbor but properly fell in love whilst filming Daredevil. However they didn’t have an easy time breaking off their previous relationships. Garner filed for divorce from hubby Scott Foley in 2003 citing irreconcilable differences, which was finalized early 2004.

Affleck was due to marry Jennifer Lopez in late 2003, but abandoned her hand in marriage, seemingly because of the excessive media attention. Garner and Affleck publicly announced their relationship late 2004. Even so, their seemingly happy union came to an end this year when the couple separated.
