First look! Incredibles 2 trailer puts a superheroic spin on parenting

screen-poster

If you've been glued to the Winter Olympics action in South Korea, you've no doubt also been dazzled by the new Incredibles 2 trailer. The promo for Pixar's sequel made its debut during the sporting event, and boy does it feel good to be back with the Incredible family.

Picking up almost immediately after the events of the 2004 original, the story this time puts a topical, gender equality spin on the action. With Helen/Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) summoned away by mysterious new suited type Winston Deavor (Bob Odenkirk), who wants to bring superheroes back into the spotlight, Bob/Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) is left holding the baby. Literally.

While Helen becomes embraced as the new superhero for our times, Bob must contend with infant Jack-Jack's burgeoning powers. But domesticity doesn't come easily to the world's strongest man... As we expect from Pixar, the animation looks dazzling and the sight gags look hilarious. Plus, Samuel L. Jackson is back as sidekick Frozone and director Brad Bird again mangles those vowels as pint-sized costume designer Edna Mode.

Check out the trailer below – and if your foot doesn't immediately start tapping to Michael Giacchino's signature jazzy score... Well, just watch the trailer again.

Incredibles 2 is released in the UK on 13th July.
