6 Halloween half-term movies you need to watch in Cineworld

screen-poster

October has only just begun but you know what it's like – Halloween half term will be here before you know it. That means you'll be having to dash around to keep the kids entertained.

Fortunately, we're one step ahead of you with our list of essential family movies to watch in Cineworld. Scroll down to check out what's on offer, and don't forget to share your must-watch movies with us on Twitter.

1. The homegrown animation – A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon

World-conquering heroes come in many forms – even plasticine ones. Having made his debut in 1995's A Close Shave opposite Wallace and Gromit, endearing sheep Shaun went on to lead his own hugely popular TV series, before making his solo cinematic debut in 2015.

We're delighted to say that Aardman's classic creation is back in this month's A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon. This time, the Mossy Bottom Farm resident teams with cute alien LU-LA, who is just looking to return home. Can they succeed?

2. The spooky, ooky treat – The Addams Family

Animation of a morbidly enjoyable kind is on offer in this dark extravaganza. The Addams Family is based on the classic comic strip about the world's most ghoulish clan, which spawned a 1950s TV series and two hit movies in the early nineties.

Now the Addams brood get the slick CGI treatment, with an all-star voice cast including Oscar Isaac as patriarch Gomez and Charlize Theron as his darkly alluring wife Morticia. Bette Midler, Finn Wolfhard and Chloe Grace Moretz also feature in the cast.

The Addams Family is out now in Cineworld.

3. The dark Disney fantasy – Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

Angelina Jolie returns as the imperious Maleficent in this sequel to the 2014 Disney blockbuster. Having made amends with the angelic Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning), the iconic Disney-villain-turned-good finds her newfound peace under threat from a mysterious enemy. Michelle Pfeiffer and Chiwetel Ejiofor are among the big names joining the cast.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is out now in Cineworld.

4. The adorable monster adventure – Abominable

Who knew the mysterious yeti was so cute? This heartwarming animated adventure comes from the makers of How to Train Your Dragon, and focuses on a young girl's epic 2000-mile journey to return an abominable snowman back to his family.

5. The Will Smith action movie – Gemini Man

Here's something for slightly older kids – a mind-bending Will Smith actioner in which the veteran A-lister confronts a younger version of himself. When ageing assassin Henry Brogan discovers he has been cloned, a relentless battle is set in motion. Smith doubles up as both Henry and his opposite number Junior – the latter brought to life via the de-ageing wonder of cutting-edge CGI effects.

6. The Arnie epic – Terminator: Dark Fate

Another one for older children seeking an alternative to animation and fantasy. The long-running Terminator series rumbles on with its sixth instalment, a direct sequel to 1991's Terminator 2: Judgment Day. History is made as Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor and Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 cyborg reunite for another round of machine-obliterating action.
