Currently the toast of Hollywood for her Oscar-nominated performance in The Theory of Everything, Felicity Jones may be set for a galaxy far, far away. The Hollywood Reporter indicates she's one of several actresses testing for director Gareth Edwards' Star Wars spin-off.
The film will be brought to the screen by Godzilla filmmaker Gareth Edwards, and is set to be one of a number of spin-off movies from the newly revived Star Wars series. Plot details are currently under tighter lock and key than the details of The Emperor's beauty regime, and it remains unclear how the film will tie into J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, released this December.
However, given Jones' newly minted starpower, she may struggle to fit the movie into her schedule, if she's chosen at all. According to IMDB, she's about to go into production for Dan Brown thriller Inferno, directed by Ron Howard.
And Jones isn't the only actress vying for the part. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara is also said to be auditioning, as is TV's Orphan Black actress Tatiana Maslany. Whoever's cast, fingers crossed it'll translate into a strong, memorable female lead.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released on 18th December.
