The essential Dwayne Johnson movies to get you ready for #Jumanji

Prepare to pump some iron and get ready to 'Rock' as the brilliantly beefy Dwayne Johnson will be bringing the brawn to the Jumanji remake. Here's the essential Dwayne Johnson movies you need to watch before you get ready for a rumble in the jungle... including one that's right around the corner...

Central Intelligence

Alongside comedian and actor Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson stars in this odd-couple action comedy. A random Facebook friend request leads to the reunion of former classmates, Bob Stone (Johnson) and Calvin Joyner (Hart).

Bob, or Robbie as he was known in school was bullied for his size and became the butt of the joke, including one mortifying moment in front of the entire school. Calvin aka The Golden Jet on the other hand, was the most popular kid in school and one who everyone believed would go far.

Reunited years later, Bob has gone from fat to fit, and Calvin is stuck in a dead-end job. They soon however find themselves in danger, in a double-crossing caper and trying to solve the mystery of “The Black Badger”. Bob might have a love for unicorns and a penchant for bumbags but behind the goofy facade, he's still a badass!

This film shows Dwayne Johnson can be seriously funny as well as an action star, and he completely steals the show.

Over the years Disney have introduced us to a whole host of memorable characters with equally memorable voices, and as Maui Dwayne Johnson lends his voice to a character who is far from just a "ordinary demi-guy".

He even gets the chance to belt out a song as well, and proves he’s got pipes as big as his biceps! Whether it’s in his god-like form, as a giant eagle or a Shark-Man hybrid, Maui is a big guy with a big heart.

Even in animated form, Dwayne Johnson is one of the best things about this film, and he's one of the reasons you'll want to watch this film again and again. You're welcome!

San Andreas

Ever wanted to see The Rock fight an earthquake? Well you're in luck, as this 2015 action-packed disaster movie gives you that and oh so much more.

As Fire & Rescue helicopter pilot Ray, Johnson sets out on a dating mission to save his daughter when a catastrophic earthquake (literally!) tears his world apart. Featuring all the cheesy dialogue and crazy special effects you could shake a stick at, this film is endlessly entertaining and Dwayne's heroic turn is easily the highlight.

Fast Five

Whilst we could easily pick any of the four Fast & Furious films that Dwayne Johnson has starred in so far, there’s no better place to start than his very first appearance in the lucratively successful franchise.

As Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs, he begins his Fast & Furious journey as a nemesis to Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and co. With a seemingly endless stock of incredible one-liners, amazing action scenes, and pecs that take up an entire screen, The Rock was an incredibly welcome addition to the crew and has now become one of the most beloved characters.

Fast Five marked something of a turning point for the franchise, and we have in part, Dwayne Johnson to thank for that.

And arriving next Monday...

Although you've yet to see this big-screen reimagining of the popular TV series, we can already tell by the trailers that this is going to be unmissable.
