Last night saw our Unlimited screening of new Matt Damon movie Downsizing, directed by Descendants and Nebraska filmmaker Alexander Payne.
Damon stars as a guy who decides to miniaturise himself and restart his life in the process, so what did you guys make of the film's trippy premise and social satire? We'll start with Victoria who says the film wasn't what she was expecting:
Some great moments and a few good bits of comedy. All in all I enjoyed it but would not rush to watch again. Was a film I would not normally have watched but thanks to unlimited feel I stepped out my comfort zone a little!— Victoria (@Tori79) January 9, 2018
In spite of its flaws Barbara admits to admiring the film's originality:
Enjoyed the film, especially the first half. Got a bit too preachy for my liking in second half but overall an interesting new concept. Too many films are I, II, III, etc.— Barbara Sue Attwood (@BSAttwoodUK) January 9, 2018
Laura says she enjoyed the movie, aside from its running time:
A quirky little film, could have shaved twenty minutes off the run time, but on the whole worth a watch. Thank you @cineworld— laura sutton (@Littlesutty) January 9, 2018
And Luke comes out in praise of Payne's latest:
Loved it, had moments of pure genius in, really great idea, ridiculously unique and loved every moment of it!— Luke Mayes (@lukemayes8) January 9, 2018
Here's what Darren thought:
The idea was great, just fizzled out and I didn’t get the whole premise of the film. Could have been so much better.— Darren Anthony Fox (@MrDarrenFox) January 9, 2018
Here's what Mandy had to say:
Went to the @cineworld unlimited preview of @downsizingfilm . Really funny, unpredictable, gave me seriously weird dreams. The cinema was packed and everyone was hooked. Go see it. It was a great night out. Also got tiny popcorn and miniature cinema tickets lol— Mandy (@threehourssleep) 10 January 2018
Downsizing is a movie with a really, really cool idea that it does nothing with. Eventually it gets better but my goodness, nothing happens for *so long*. Still, always appreciate the #UnlimitedScreening as ever @cineworld— Luke McCarthy-Reed (@lukehmuse) 9 January 2018
Downsizing goes on wide release on Friday 19th January.
Don't forget about next Monday's Unlimited screening of Liam Neeson thriller The Commuter. Check out the trailer below and we look forward to seeing you there.
