Comic-Con 2015: 10 revelations that blew our minds #Spoileralert

screen-poster

Comic-Con 2015 has rolled to a close, having teased, tantalised and thrilled pop culture geeks from all over the world. Here are the biggest stories to have emerged from this year's festival...

1) Suicide Squad trailer

DC Comics fans were besides themselves at this exclusive Comic-Con release. Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman and Cara Delevigne lead the awesome cast of this explosive comic book action movie, one centering around iconic supervillains who are recruited to undertake top secret missions for the government. And the first look at Jared Leto's psychotic Joker? Just wow.

2) Selfie Squad

Seriously, how many A-listers is it possible to squeeze into one photo?

3) J-Law bids farewell to The Hunger Games...

The blockbuster franchise rolls to a close this year with Mockingjay – Part 2. Cue tears. However, whilst attending the opening day panel in the famous Hall H, she admitted that the movies never leave her: "I don't think I'll ever really say goodbye to Katniss – she's become a part of me."

4) But she's still as hilarious as ever

Cue this awesome snapshot with the one-and-only Bill Murray. We love it that Jen still gets starstruck.

5) Hugh Jackman takes his last stand

Blimey, this was a tough Comic-Con for fans. Not only did J-Law say goodbye. But whilst promoting next year's X-Men: Apocalypse, everyone's favourite Aussie superstar teased his final appearance as adamantium-clawed superhero Wolverine, revealing that the title of his final standalone movie would simply be called Wolverine. He also joked that it might be called, Wolverine: Old Man Logan. In an impossibly cute moment, Jackman also sat on Jennifer Lawrence's lap.

6) Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice

Yet another Comic-Con exclusive: the explosive and spectacular new trailer for the epic superhero face-off wowed the crowds. New Batman Ben Affleck goes head to head with Superman Henry Cavill in the thrilling trailer, which also teases Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Movies simply don't get bigger than this.

7) Harrison Ford's still got it

Talking of movies that are set to conquer the known universe, you may have heard of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The film's Hall H panel on the second day of the festival was attended by director J.J. Abrams and the film's cast, including Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega and Domhnall Gleeson. But the show was stolen by Ford – who inspires so much love, he even got a standing ovation. Go, Harrison!

8) Star Wars stuns the crowds

The Force awakened with the debut of exclusive behind the scenes footage from Abrams' new movie. Gloriously nostalgic, with contributions from Hamill and others, it proves that the director is the right person to bring the franchise back from the Dark Side to the Light. If you yelped with glee at the sight of the Millennium Falcon, you weren't the only one.

9) Deadpool

Pretty much everyone agrees that Marvel comics character Deadpool wasn't done justice in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Well, star Ryan Reynolds stormed this year's Comic-Con with an exclusive preview of his new standalone adventure, one in which Deadpool's formidable weaponry skills and dark sense of humour promise to take centre stage.

10) Deadpool trailer

As if Reynolds' appearance wasn't enough, fans were then left amazed by the exclusive unveiling of the first trailer. Sadly, it's not yet ready for us mortal folk. But the ever-present Reynolds was on hand to reassure us that the official release is but weeks away. Still feels too long!
