Disney princess blockbuster Moana is returning to Cineworld, as part of our Movies for Juniors screenings on the 16th, 17th, 23rd and 24th June. Altogether now: you're welcome!
But before you book your tickets, here are some fun facts about Moana that you may not have known...
1. It set a Disney record
The film features the youngest Disney Princess voice ever: actress Auli'i Cravalho was only 14 years old when she recorded her dialogue.
2. Its directors were branching out
Moana filmmakers John Musker and Ron Clements had never directed a computer-animated movie before. But they are past masters with hand-drawn animation, having helmed The Great Mouse Detective (1986), The Little Mermaid (1989), Aladdin (1992), Hercules (1997), Treasure Planet (2002), and The Princess and the Frog (2009).
3. The movie has got the X-Factor
Moana's mother, Sina, is voiced by none other than Pussycat Dolls singer, Nicole Scherzinger.
4. It was a different type of Disney movie
Moana is only the second Disney Princess movie not to have been based on a fairy tale or legend. The only other one is Brave from 2012.
5. The title has a hidden meaning
The word "moana" is both Hawaiian and New Zealand Maori for ocean or sea.
6. It's Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's second animated movie
Maui voice actor Johnson, who steals the movie, voiced the hero in Planet 51 in 2009.
7. The movie owes itself to a celebrated author
Moana came into being when the directors’ work on an adaptation of Terry Pratchett’s Mort came to nothing.
8. Jango Fett is one of the voices
Temuera Morrison voices Chief Tui, Moana's overprotective father and chief of Motunui Island. If you recognise the voice, it’s because Morrison played Jango Fett, father of infamous bounty hunter Boba, in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.
