Michael Fassbender? Forget it! Rising Greek-born French actress Ariane Labed is the one you'll be remembering from upcoming video game barnstormer Assassin's Creed. Here's why.
After just 6 years, she's already caught Hollywood's attention
Amazingly, Ariane's movie debut came very recently in 2010 with surreal Greek drama Attenberg, for which she won a clutch of awards including the Volpi Cup at the world-renowned Venice Film Festival.
Fast-forward six years and she's now storming it in one of the new year's biggest movies, Assassin's Creed. If this is how famous she's become in such a short space of time, how much is her profile going to skyrocket in the next six years?
She kicks ass as Maria
No words are needed: just check out this GIF of her in full assassin mode. Watch out, boys!
She's married to moviemaking royalty
Ariane's other half is esteemed Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, with whom she has worked several times including his critically acclaimed 2015 black comedy The Lobster. The movie is the story of a dystopian future exploring the lives of people who are turned into animals if they don't find a partner. Check out the following video in which they pick out some of their favourite movies from the Criterion Collection.
She's already worked with some of the biggest names in the business
From Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz in the aforementioned The Lobster to Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy in Richard Linklater's critically adored Before Midnight, Ariane has a host of impressive credits to her name. Check out her performance in the latter film 2:50 into the following scene.
You've also (probably) seen her on the small screen...
If you recognise Ariane and could swear you've seen her in something very recently, let us point you towards Charlie Brooker's sensational TV series Black Mirror. The actress appeared in the Netflix exclusive third series, in the episode Men Against Fire. It just goes to show she really is everywhere and is surely destined for bigger things.
