Will Ferrell returns as beloved comedy character Ron Burgundy in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.
And it seems like the latest outing for Ron and his dunderheaded news team has the funny bones of American reviewers. The Hollywood Reporter's Todd McCarthy finds much to praise: "It's bawdy, on-target in its take on what's become of TV news, and packed with wacky performers."
That sounds like the Anchorman we know and love! Stephanie Zacharek of The Village Voice praises Kristin Wiig's endearingly oddball turn as the new love interest of dim weatherman Brick Tamland (Steve Carell). "They reach out to each other with out-there lines of dialogue that meet somewhere in the middle," Stephanie enthuses. "Their Martian chemistry is wonderful."
Screen International's Brent Simon praises the interplay between leads Ferrell, Carell, Paul Rudd (as Brian Fantana) and David Koechner (Champ Kind). "Ferrell and his comrades exhibit a great rapport throughout," says Brent. "This makes the subtle interplay of their shared scenes a delight."
Finally, Scott Foundas of Variety writes, "The jokes keep coming fast and furious. In what other movie... can you find Yasser Arafat one minute and the ghost of Stonewall Jackson the next — and a Minotaur — and somehow it’s all of a piece?"
