Alien: Covenant

What's the story? Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with Alien: Covenant, a new chapter in his ground breaking Alien franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

MET Opera 2016/17: Der Rosenkavalier (Saturday 13th May, 5.30pm)

What's the story? The dream cast of Renee Fleming as the Marschallin and Elina Garanca as Octavian star in Strauss’s grandest opera. In his new production, Robert Carsen, the director behind the Met’s recent Falstaff, places the action at the end of the Habsburg Empire, underscoring the opera’s subtext of class and conflict against a rich backdrop of gilt and red damask, in a staging that also stars Gunther Groissbock as Baron Ochs.

Sebastian Weigle conducts the sparklingly perfect score. The Met’s groundbreaking series launched in 2006 and quickly established the company as the world’s leading alternative cinema content provider. More than 19 million tickets have been sold since the series’ inception, and the series currently reaches more than 2,000 movie theaters in 70 countries around the world.

Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry (Screen Anime) (Wednesday 17th May, 7.45pm)

What's the story? Centered around a magical wand called Dragon Cry, the Fairy Tail guild sets out to capture it on behalf of the Kingdom of Fiore after it’s stolen by Zash and given to Animus of the Stella Kingdom. Dragon Cry is said to be powerful enough to destroy the world, but will Natsu be able to awaken his instincts and save everyone? Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry is the latest from Screen Anime – a selection of the best and brightest Japanese animated releases on UK cinema screens. In Japanese with English subtitles.

NT Live: Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf (Thursday 18th May, 7pm)

What's the story? Sonia Friedman Productions present Imelda Staunton (Gypsy, Vera Drake, the Harry Potter films), Conleth Hill (Game Of Thrones, The Producers), Luke Treadaway (A Street Cat Named Bob, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, The Hollow Crown) and Imogen Poots (A Long Way Down, Jane Eyre) in James Macdonald’s critically acclaimed, 5 star production of Edward Albee’s landmark play, broadcast live to cinemas from the Harold Pinter Theatre, London. In the early hours of the morning on the campus of an American college, Martha, much to her husband George’s displeasure, has invited the new professor and his wife to their home for some after-party drinks. As the alcohol flows and dawn approaches, the young couple are drawn into George and Martha’s toxic games until the evening reaches its climax in a moment of devastating truth-telling.

Sarkar 3 (Hindi)

What's the story? Sarkar 3 looks at power and its attraction as the primary basis for human conflicts. The plot once again deals with multifaceted crisis in Subhash Nagre’s (Amitabh Bachchan) life. The introduction of new characters that are set to create havoc in Sarkar’s life from outside his circle - Govind Deshpandey (Manoj Bajpayee) who plays Sarkar’s rival political opponent, Annu Karkare (Yami Gautam) out to seek revenge on Sarkar by using Cheeku (Amit Sadh), Sarkar's arrogant grandson and Gokul (Ronit Roy), his trusted wing man...Sarkar 3 this time will see much more larger dramatic events and even larger-than-life characters set against a backdrop of one-upmanships, criminal business practices and terrifying conspiracies.

Lahoriye (Punjabi)

Lahoriye is the tale of two villages located on the Indo-Pak border. The innocent folks of Punjab suffered immeasurable loss of life and property at the bleeding hour of 1947 Partition. The people were destined to be separated but in spite of the physical borders, a part of them still roams in the streets of their ancestral birthplaces. In the present day, Punjabis' from respective Punjabs are known by their native names. Love knows no boundaries, so two young hearts further strengthen the bond by falling in love irrespective of the risks involved. This love story is not ordinary as the restrictions of the families as well as nations are the greatest hurdles in their way. Whether their love survives in such a callous situation...?? Let us explore their world to know their story.

Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen (Tamil)

What's the story? Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen (English: Why fear when Saravanan is here?) is an upcoming Tamil action comedy film written and directed by Ezhil, starring Udhayanidhi Stalin and Regina Cassandra in the leading roles, with Srushti Dange and Soori in supporting roles. The film began production during July 2016 and will release in 2017.
