MET Opera 2016/17: Der Rosenkavalier (Saturday 13th May, 5.30pm)
What's the story? The dream cast of Renee Fleming as the Marschallin and Elina Garanca as Octavian star in Strauss’s grandest opera. In his new production, Robert Carsen, the director behind the Met’s recent Falstaff, places the action at the end of the Habsburg Empire, underscoring the opera’s subtext of class and conflict against a rich backdrop of gilt and red damask, in a staging that also stars Gunther Groissbock as Baron Ochs.
Sebastian Weigle conducts the sparklingly perfect score. The Met’s groundbreaking series launched in 2006 and quickly established the company as the world’s leading alternative cinema content provider. More than 19 million tickets have been sold since the series’ inception, and the series currently reaches more than 2,000 movie theaters in 70 countries around the world.
Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry (Screen Anime) (Wednesday 17th May, 7.45pm)

Centered around a magical wand called Dragon Cry, the Fairy Tail guild sets out to capture it on behalf of the Kingdom of Fiore after it’s stolen by Zash and given to Animus of the Stella Kingdom. Dragon Cry is said to be powerful enough to destroy the world, but will Natsu be able to awaken his instincts and save everyone? Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry is the latest from Screen Anime – a selection of the best and brightest Japanese animated releases on UK cinema screens. In Japanese with English subtitles.
