The stage production of Charles Dickens' classic story is broadcast live in Cineworld from London's Vaudeville Theatre. Great Expectations is one of the most acclaimed novels in all of literature. Now Cineworld customers get to experience Graham MacClaren's exquisitely haunting staging of the author's landmark work - the culmination of the international Dickens bicentenary celebrations. On a deserted marsh, young Pip meets violent convict Magwitch. The convict is just one of the extraordinary figures who will shape the course of his life, other significant characters including the desolate, tragic Miss Havisham and her chilly ward Estella, with whom Pip falls in love. MacClaren's visually resplendent production beautifully captures the Gothic grandeur of the novel, with outstanding performances from the cast and a memorable score from Simon Slater. Fans of the story will be able to experience it afresh - and it's also the ideal introduction to those getting to grips with Dickens for the first time.
