Whiplash star Miles Teller stars in the extraordinary true story of boxer Vinny Paz. Junior lightweight Rhode Island boxer Vinny ‘Paz’ Pazienza (Miles Teller) has achieved an extraordinary degree of fame within the ring, backed by his flamboyant father Angelo (Ciaran Hinds). But when he is knocked out during a 1988 match against Floyd Mayweather, he is encouraged to retire. Ignoring the advice of his managers, he instead teams up with Mike Tyson’s famed trainer Kevin Rooney (Aaron Eckhart) with the aim of moving up to middleweight division. However when a devastating car accident leaves him with a near-fatal spinal injury, Vinny seemingly must say goodbye to boxing forever. However the determined pugilist soon begins an extraordinary journey of determination to climb back in the ring. With a steely and determined performance from Whiplash’s Miles Teller in the lead role, this is a rousing story of defiance, made all the more-so for being based on a true story.
