Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone star in the tale of a man whose life changes beyond all recognition.

Shy and introverted, Karthik (Farhan Akhtar) suffers from huge confidence issues. He's miserable at his just-average job that yields below-average results where his boss treats him like dirt and Shonali (Deepika Padukone), the colleague he secretly loves, doesn't even know he exists. Karthik is a loser and he knows and accepts it - but surely things can only get better? One night, the unexpected happens. The phone rings and Karthik finds himself speaking to a man who also claims to be Karthik. The man on the phone says that he is here to change Karthik's life. As Karthik accepts the phone in his life it soon becomes his guide, his mentor, friend and guardian. And most importantly it becomes the ticket to the love of his life, Shonali, as everything changes for Karthik in unimaginable ways.
