When Syracuse (Colin Farrell) finds a beautiful and mysterious woman (Alicja Bachleda) entangled in his fishing nets, he has no idea where this prize catch could have came from. Transferring her onto dry land, however, he begins to fall under her spell and eventually helplessly in love. While Syracuse remains mystified about the object of his affection, his precocious daughter Annie (Alice Barry) comes to believe that the beautiful creature is Ondine, a mermaid. Annie's feisty personality attracts Ondine and leads to the pair forming a tender friendship. But beneath Syracuse's wayward past and Ondine's elusive origin lurks a menace that threatens their coming together. Set against the picturesque backdrop of a remote coastal village in the South-West of Ireland, Ondine is a magical fairytale romance from acclaimed writer/director Neil Jordan.
