A suspicious wife hires an escort to test her husbands' fidelity in this provocative adult drama.
Catherine (Julianne Moore) is married to David (Liam Neeson), a music professor whom she fears may be cheating on her. To lay her doubts to rest once and for all she employs Chloe (Amanda Seyfried) to flirt with her husband and see if he responds. But Chloe's seductive behaviour proves too much of a temptation, and as she relays details of her sexually-charged meetings with David, Catherine begins to obsess about the situation she has created. Spiralling out of her control, events take an unpredictable turn with potentially deadly consequences for her family. Having coaxed brilliant performances from Colin Firth and Kevin Bacon in Where The Truth Lies (2005), Canadian director Atom Egoyan entices Moore and Seyfried into delivering compelling turns as two desperate women who will go to strange lengths to sabotage and salvage their relationships.
