The film follows the intertwining lives of a cross-section of people in Los Angeles one Valentine's Day. From young children to elderly grandparents - and everyone in between - they are all negotiating their way through the ups and downs of romance. The stellar line-up includes Bradley Cooper and Julia Roberts as a happy couple, while Anne Hathaway plays a younger woman enjoying the first flush of romance. Emma Roberts is a teenager whose attitude to love sharply contrasts with her grandparents, while Jessica Alba plays a single girl who - along with her dog - is checking into a hotel for Valentine's Day. Jamie Foxx is a TV reporter whose colleague, played by Jessica Biel, complains that "my closest relationship is with my BlackBerry."
