A tale of moral dilemmas as a family is torn apart by chronic illness.
Anna Fitzgerald (Abigail Breslin) was born for a purpose - to save her sister Kate (Sofie Vassilieva). But now, aged 13, she is starting to question her role as a genetic donor permanently helping to treat Kate's leukaemia. Surgeries, transfusions and injections - if Kate is in hospital, Anna's never far away. She's not ill herself, but she might as well be - and now parents Brian (Jason Patric) and Sara (Cameron Diaz) need her to donate a kidney to her sister. Then Anna reads about attorney Campbell Alexander (Alec Baldwin) and the cases he has won for other kids. Determined to enlist his help, the tenacious teenager heads to Campbell's office and announces that she wants to sue her parents. Anna longs to have the freedom to do as she chooses with her body. But what might this mean for Kate?
