Strangely, Joe, the ultimate lone wolf, instead finds himself mentoring the young man while simultaneously being drawn into a tentative romance with a local shop girl. As he falls further under the sway of Bangkok's intoxicating beauty, Joe begins to question his isolated existence and lets down his guard... just as Surat decides it's time to clean house. Directors Oxide Pang and Danny Pang ("The Eye") paint an explosive picture of the Bangkok underworld, illuminated with neon and saturated in violence. HIJACK(TBC) Directed by: Kunal Shivdasani Starring: Shiney Ahuja, Esha Deol, Kaveri Jha Release: 05/09/2008 Synopsis: Vikram Madan (Shiney Ahuja) is a ground maintenance officer at the Chandigarh airport. Rajeev, the security chief of the airport, is his one and only friend. As luck would have it, the flight in which Vikram's daughter is traveling to Amritsar from Delhi, is hijacked. A group of six terrorists takes control of the airplane to secure release of Maqsood (KK Raina) who had been captured by the Indian police. They threaten to kill the hostages otherwise. The flight is forced to land at Chandigarh airport. Vikram sneaks into the aircraft with the help of Saira (Esha Deol), an airhostess. What follows is one man's fight against international terrorists.
MERA PIND MY HOME(TBC) Directed by: Manmohan Singh Starring: Navjot Sidhu, Harbatan Mann, Kimi Verma Release: 05/09/2008 Synopsis: In this family comedy drama, Sidhu (Navjot Sidhu) - a well to do, happy go lucky NRI who has chosen to settle in his native village, spreads the message of self-empowerment and entrepreneurship amongst the village youth. Led by Himmat (Harbhajan Mann), the youth set off a revolution of development in the village. Their lives are changed by Sidhu's simple and extremely enterprising initiatives. Soon, the village transforms into a modern prosperous hamlet and becomes a model in its own right. Mera Pind-My Home, as the name itself suggests, is essentially a film woven around the backdrop of a Punjabi village with its typical characters and their own set of challenging and trying circumstances. The film drives an important message targeted at Punjabi audiences; to realize the importance of being an entrepreneur in one's own land rather than pursuing the extraordinary entrepreneurship of the West.
NEVER APOLOGIZE(15) Directed by: Mike Kaplan Starring: Malcolm Mcdowell, Lindsay Anderson, Alan Bates Release: 05/09/2008 Synopsis: This is a film of a one-man-show in which Malcolm McDowell talks about Lindsey Anderson, backed up by clips from some of Lindsay Anderson's films including "If" and "O Lucky Man" which McDowell starred in and which were Anderson's second and third feature films. David Storey is officially credited as being the sole writer on "O Lucky Man". McDowell acknowledges that Storey re-wrote his original script (which McDowell has Anderson describe as "Awful!"). Malcolm McDowell reads humourous excerpts from his diary and gives mention to stars such as Sir John Gielgud, Laurence Olivier, Richard Harris and Lillian Gish. This documentary also gives a great insight into the British film scene in the 1960s and 70s as well as the careers of the featured stars.

When a Russian mobster orchestrates a crooked land deal, millions of dollars are up for grabs, and all of London's criminal underworld wants in on the action. As Erlendur reopens this very cold case, he follows a trail of unusual forensic evidence, uncovering secrets that are much larger than the murder of one old man - with clues knit into the genetic bloodline of an entire country. Based on the novel MÝRIN by Arnaldur Indriđason, winner of the Scandinavian crime writers' Glass Key Award in 2002.

More specifically, a rare new type called 'Pineapple Express'. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop (Rosie Perez) and drug lords, he panics and things start to go wrong. He leaves his Pineapple Express at the scene of the crime, and runs for his life! The bad guys are hot on their trail, trying to figure out the fastest way to dispose of them. All aboard then for the Pineapple Express.
THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS(12A) Directed by: Mark Herman Starring: David Thewlis, Vera Farmiga, Rupert Friend Release: 12/09/2008 Synopsis: Bruno, is the son of strict commander of a Nazi concentration camp. He has a strong headed sister, Gretel. They live in a five storey mansion, but are one day suddenly moved to a place called Out-With (Auschwitz). Bruno, outraged by his father's decision to move to Out-With, and desperate to go home, spends his time in his room with no friends. He is also annoyed by the fact that they live in a three story house instead of their old five-story mansion, and with such a small space, there isn't any room for exploration (a hobby of Bruno's) to be done. He also misses sliding down the banister in their old house. From his bedroom window, Bruno spots a fence with people in striped pyjamas behind it. These are the Jews, and they are in a concentration camp. One day his parents come to an agreement that both Bruno and Gretel need a tutor for their education so they hire Herr Liszt. To Bruno, Herr Liszt is the most boring teacher one could ever have - because he teaches science instead of the arts, which Bruno prefers. So, in boredom and confusion he wonders what is going on at Out-With and why people are always dressed in striped pajamas there.
THE WOMEN(TBC) Directed by: Diane English Starring: Clare Boothe Luce, Meg Ryan, Eva Mendes Release: 12/09/2008 Synopsis: Based on George Cukor's 1939 film and Clare Booth Luce's 1936 stage play, "The Women" whisks us into a busy pocket of Manhattan society, where the publishing, fashion and finance industries play. At the centre of the tale is Mary Haines (Meg Ryan), a thoroughly modern woman suddenly confronted with an age-old problem, a cheating husband. The ladies in her life swiftly rally to Mary's side led by her best friend Sylvie Fowler (Annette Bening. But when Sylvie betrays Mary in a Faustian bargain, their entire group of friends is shaken to the core and the two women must face the most painful break-up of all, friendship. Meanwhile shop girl Crystal Allen (Eva Mendes) gets her hooks into Mary's man. Naturally, this situation becomes the hot talk amongst Mary's catty friends. "The Women" unfolds in an entirely female world. The men are richly portrayed but never seen onscreen. This classic story also features Candice Bergen, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett Smith and Bette Midler.

THE CHASER(18) Directed by: Hong-Jin Na Starring: Won-Chan Hong, Shinho Lee, Yun-Seok Kim Release: 19/09/2008 Synopsis: Korean film "The Chaser" comes on an incredible wave of critical acclaim, having won the Grand Prize award at the 44th Baeksang Art Awards, as well as the five top prizes at the 45th Daejong Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor, not to mention having been very well received at Cannes. On top of this, it has also enjoyed great popular success, being the top earner at the domestic box office for 2008 to date. Incredibly, the film marks the first outing for director and screenwriter Na Hong Jin, who delivers an amazing assured crime thriller debut revolving around the grisly deeds of a real life serial killer who claimed more than twenty victims. Joong-ho is a dirty detective turned pimp in financial trouble as several of his girls have recently disappeared without clearing their debts. While trying to track them down, he finds a clue that the vanished girls were all called up by a same client whom one of his girls is meeting with right now.
THE WAVE(15) Directed by: Dennis Gansel Starring: Todd Strasser, Jurgen Vogel, Frederick Lau Release: 19/09/2008 Synopsis: When Rainer Wegner (Jurgen Vogel), a popular high school teacher, finds himself relegated to teaching autocracy as part of the schools project week, hes less than enthusiastic. So are his students, who greet the prospect of studying fascism yet again with apathetic grumbling. Rainer devises an unorthodox experiment. But his hastily conceived lesson in social orders and the power of unity soon grows a life of its own. The Wave is far from a social-studies lesson. As with his previous film, Before the Fall, director Dennis Gansel fashions an energetic, gripping drama that cuts through superficial ideological interrogatives and goes straight for the veins - the human psychologies and individual behaviors that contribute to collective movements. In unpeeling the emotional layers and contradictions of his characters, Gansel offers a humanistic perspective on the terrifying irony that these students may welcome the very things they denounce. And lest we too easily dismiss this cautionary tale, its noteworthy that the true story that prompted Todd Strassers novel The Wave (from which the film was adapted) did not take place in Germany, but at a high school in Palo Alto.
TROPIC THUNDER(15) Directed by: Ben Stiller Starring: Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr. Release: 19/09/2008 Synopsis: In the action-comedy "Tropic Thunder", Ben Stiller plays pampered action superstar Tugg Speedman, who is cast in the biggest, most expensive war movie ever produced. Speedman sets out to Southeast Asia with a "Who's Who" of celebrity co-stars. They include Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.), an intense, three-time Oscar®-winning actor; Jeff Portnoy (Jack Black), star of the popular gross-out comedy franchise "The Fatties"; multi-platinum hip-hop-star-turned-entrepreneur-turned-actor Alpa Chino (Brandon T. Jackson); and first-timer Kevin Sandusky (Jay Baruchel). Soon after the production begins the actors are thrown into a real-life situation and are forced to become the fighting unit they're portraying, in order to find a way out of the jungle in one piece. A troupe of actors, under the impression they're making a Vietnam war movie, wanders dangerously in the jungle and is captured by a gang of druglords who think the actors are narcs. This movie is a send-up of Hollywood, actors, acting, agents, directors, writers, rappers, trailers and egos.
ALEXANDRA(PG) Directed by: Alexander Sokurov Starring: Galina Vishnevskaya, Vasily Shevtsov, Raisa Gichaeva Release: 26/09/2008 Synopsis: Featuring a performance of monumental depth by opera legend Galina Vishnevskaya, "Alexandra" presents war for what it is: brutal, crushing, and ugly, and yet Sokurov doesn't lens any battles. These wounds are deeper, coming from the endlessness of a war (Chechnya, but also anywhere) that bleaches the soul as surely as Sokurov's striking trademark monochrome palette. "Alexandra" inhabits a world of specificity and universality. The setting is Chechnya, and Alexandra's questioning of "what is the Fatherland?" is an undeniable critique of that particular conflict, sure to make Vladimir Putin mighty uncomfortable. But Sokurov uses this one seemingly endless conflict to reflect upon the totality of the war experience, not in some superficial and sentimental way but by revealing the loss of basic humanity. Elderly, no-nonsense Alexandra Nikolaevna (Vishnevskaya) arrives at her grandson's army base after a long journey. She hasn't seen Denis (Vasily Shevtsov) in seven years; following the initial joy of meeting he takes her on a tour of the base, where she watches soldiers barely old enough to grow facial hair cleaning their guns.
DEATH RACE(15) Directed by: Paul W.S. Anderson Starring: Jason Statham, Joan Allen, Tyrese Gibson Release: 26/09/2008 Synopsis: A penitentiary full of felons has inspired the jailers to create a grisly pastime ripe for lucrative kickbacks. Now, adrenalized inmates, a global audience hungry for televised violence and a spectacular arena come together to form the "Death Race". Three-time speedway champion Jensen Ames (Statham) is an expert at survival in the harsh landscape that has become our country. Just as he thinks he has turned his life around, the ex-con is framed for a gruesome murder he didn't commit. I'VE LOVED YOU SO LONG(TBC) Directed by: Philippe Claudel Starring: Kristin Scott Thomas, Elsa Zylberstein, Serge Hazanavicius Release: 26/09/2008 Synopsis: Two sisters who haven't seen each other for 15 years gradually rediscover common ground and a way of relating to each other. First seen distractedly puffing on a cigarette as she waits for her younger sister Lea (Elsa Zylberstein) at an airport, Juliette (Scott Thomas) is a plainly dressed, middle-aged woman with tired hair and even more tired eyes, whose backstory slowly emerges throughout the picture. Lea, married to lexicographer Luc (Serge Hazanavicius), has a full life that includes raising two adopted Vietnamese daughters and looking after Luc's ailing father (Jean-Claude Arnaud). Explaining "auntie" Juliette's sudden appearance, Lea tells her pushy elder daughter Lys (Lise Segur) that she's "been away for a long time, and in England. What she doesn't mention is where her sister has really been.
RIGHTEOUS KILL(TBC) Directed by: John Avnet Starring: Russell Gewirtz, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro Release: 26/09/2008 Synopsis: Jon Avnet's thriller Righteous Kill stars Al Pacino and Robert De Niro Two veteran New York City detectives work to identify the possible connection between a recent murder and a case they believe they solved years ago; is there a serial killer on the loose, and did they perhaps put the wrong person behind bars? Carla Gugino co-stars as a crime-scene investigator who has romantic ties to De Niro. 50 Cent, Donnie Wahlberg, Brian Dennehy, and John Leguizamo co-star.
SWING VOTE(TBC) Directed by: Joshua Michael Stern Starring: Kevin Costner, Madeline Carroll, Dennis Hopper Release: 26/09/2008 Synopsis: Kevin Costner stars as Bud Johnson, an apathetic, beer slinging, lovable loser, who is coasting through a life that has passed him by, except for the one bright spot in his mundane existence, his precocious, over achieving twelve-year old daughter, Molly. She takes care of them both, until one mischievous moment on Election Day, when she accidentally sets off a chain of events which culminates in the presidential election coming down to one vote, her dads. Suddenly, Bud Johnson, the nobody, becomes the voice for everybody when the world realizes that his vote will be the one that elects the next president. Politicians invade the small town of Texico, New Mexico and its unwitting inhabitants, waging war for Bud's vote.
TAKEN(TBC) Directed by: Pierre Morel Starring: Luc Besson, Robert Mark Kamen, Liam Neeson Release: 26/09/2008 Synopsis: An ex-soldier (Liam Neeson) traveling through Europe embarks on a frantic quest to rescue his daughter (Maggie Grace) after the young girl is abducted by slave traders in "District B13" director Pierre Morel's contemporary thriller "Taken". Robert Mark Kamen joins the screenwriting team which also includes Morel and longtime collaborator Luc Besson, who also produces.
88 MINUTES(TBC) Directed by: Jon Avnet Starring: Al Pacino, Alicia Witt, Leelee Sobieski Release: 03/10/2008 Synopsis: In "88 Minutes" Al Pacino stars as Dr. Jack Gramm, a college professor who moonlights as a forensic psychiatrist for the FBI. The story revolves around a death row inmate named Jon Forster, who's getting ready to die by lethal injection as the result of Gramm's testimony. However, while Forster is behind bars figuring out what to order for his last meal, a copycat is at work on the streets of Seattle. When Gramm receives a death threat claiming he has only 88 minutes to live, he must use all his skills and training to narrow down the possible suspects, who include a disgruntled student, a jilted former lover, and a serial killer who is already on death row, before his time runs out.
BRIDESHEAD REVISITED(12A) Directed by: Julian Jarrold Starring: Emma Thompson, Michael Gambon, Matthew Goode Release: 03/10/2008 Synopsis: "Brideshead Revisited" tells an evocative story of forbidden love and the loss of innocence set in the pre-WWII era. The rise and fall of Charles' infatuations reflect the decline of a decadent era in England between the wars. Like Sanjay, Kalpana also espouses the cause of the poor. No wonder, she runs into trouble with a gang that supplies girls to Mumbai as she exposes them. A retaliatory attack by the gang led by Lakshman (Pradeep Rawat) has devastating consequences. Sanjay, who tries to save Kalpana from attack and is hit on the head, which causes a memory loss. He can remember things only for 15 minutes. So, Sanjay, who is on the lookout for the gang, tattooes the names, mobile numbers, addresses, etc. on his body and takes photos with his Polaroid camera to remember things! Sanjay is helped by medical student Chitra (Nayanthara). Though she wants to study Sanjay's case in detail, her professor tells her not to do so as there is a police case against him. How he manages to get even with the gang forms the climax. A highlight of Ghajini is its music, especially the background score. The songs, "X-Machi" and "Suttrum Vizhi" have become popular.
HOW TO LOSE FRIENDS AND ALIENATE PEOPLE(TBC) Directed by: Robert B. Weide Starring: Peter Straughan, Toby Young, Simon Pegg Release: 03/10/2008 Synopsis: "How To Lose Friends & Alienate People" chronicles Sidney Young's (Simon Pegg) descent from promising journalist to dismal failure at New York's most prestigious magazine Sharps. He cuts a swathe through Manhattan for all the wrong reasons and his bad manners and vulgar pranks lead to monumental mishaps with hilarious consequences, until finally and improbably he wins the heart of his true love. Despite the fact that women frequently cross the room and the dance floor to avoid him, Sidney manages to find a friend and confidante in his colleague Alison (Kirsten Dunst)who helps him navigate the New York social scene and deal with his nightmare boss (Jeff Bridges).
THE FALL(TBC) Directed by: Tarsem Singh Starring: Catinca Untaru, Justine Waddell, Lee Pace Release: 03/10/2008 Synopsis: In Los Angeles, circa 1915, a silent movie stunt man has his legs paralyzed while performing a reckless stunt. He convalesces in a half-deserted hospital, its corridors of cream and lime stretching from ward to ward of mostly empty beds, their pillows and sheets awaiting the harvest of World War I. The stunt man is Roy (Lee Pace), pleasant in appearance, confiding in speech, happy to make a new friend of a little girl named Alexandria (Catinca Untaru). Roy tells a story to Alexandria, involving adventurers who change appearance as quickly as a child's imagination can do its work. We see the process. He tells her of an "Indian" who has a wigwam and a squaw. She does not know these words, and envisions an Indian from a land of palaces, turbans and swamis. The verbal story is input from Roy; the visual story is output from Alexandria. The story involves Roy (playing the Black Bandit) and his friends: a bomb-throwing Italian anarchist, an escaped African slave, an Indian (from India), and Charles Darwin and his pet monkey, Wallace. Their sworn enemy, Governor Odious, has stranded them on a desert island, but they come ashore (riding swimming elephants, of course) and wage war on him.
VAARANAM AAYIRAM(TBC) Directed by: Gautham Menon Starring: Suriya, Simran, Sameera Reddy Release: 09/10/2008 Synopsis: Vaaranam Aayiram is a Tamil feature film directed by Gautham Menon, who with Vaaranam Aayiram will direct his seventh feature film. Surya Sivakumar acts in dual lead roles, whilst Sameera Reddy, Divya Spandana and Simran Bagga also play roles in the film. The film, which has been under production since late 2006, has Harris Jayaraj as the music composer.
BODY OF LIES(TBC) Directed by: Ridley Scott Starring: Leonardo Di Caprio, Russell Crowe, Mark Strong Release: 10/10/2008 Synopsis: Leonardo DiCaprio and screenwriter William Monahan team with director Ridley Scott for this screen adaptation of David Ignatius' novel -Body of Lies. When CIA operative Roger Ferris (DiCaprio) uncovers evidence indicating that a major terrorist leader may be operating out of Jordan, he enlists the aid of CIA veteran Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) in infiltrating the elusive saboteur's vast underground network. During the course of his dangerous mission, Ferris gradually comes to question how much he can trust his presumed allies -- who include not just Hoffman, but the outwardly helpful head of Jordanian intelligence as well.
CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA(TBC) Directed by: Nikhil Advani Starring: Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Chia Hui Liu Release: 10/10/2008 Synopsis: This Diwali, two great civilizations... will wish they had never met! "Chandni Chowk too China" is an action-comedy about a simple cook from Chandni Chowk mistaken for the reincarnation of an ancient peasant warrior Liu Shengh by residents of an oppressed Chinese village. The film earlier known as Mera Naam Chin Chin Choo and also Made in China, is written by Sridhar Raghavan who also wrote Khakee (2004) and Bluffmaster (2005). "Chandni Chowk to China" is said to be semi- autobiographical film potraying actor Akshay Kumar's life. Shooting began in January 2008 and included a schedule in China. Nikhil Advani later announced that Deepika Padukone will be essaying a double role in the film. The music in this film is directed by Kailash Kher and his band Kailasa.
GOMORRA(15) Directed by: Matteo Garrone Starring: Salvatore Abruzzese, Simone Sacchettino, Salvatore Ruocco Release: 10/10/2008 Synopsis: Based on an Italian nonfiction bestseller about the Neapolitan mob known as the Camorra, Garrone's film travels from the horrifying slum projects of suburban Naples to the corporate suites and the high-fashion ateliers, and finds them all poisoned and corrupted by organized crime. The audience is thrown into the middle of five different chaotic stories. Two brash teenage boys decide to wage war against the local Camorra boss, a drunken, video-game-addicted man who makes Tony Soprano look like Lorenzo de Medici. A tailor in a mob-supported fashion business secretly goes to work for their Chinese-sweatshop rivals. A businessman arranges the illegal dumping of corporate toxic waste on mob-owned land. A likable kid who delivers groceries and an aging mob soldier who drops off money become pawns in a widening gang war. Garrone finds marvelous, dark, symbolic and poetic images in the appalling and decrepit urban-rural sprawl of Naples, where Chinese immigrants live in a building that's missing exterior walls and a pair of hit men stalking their prey must plod ankle-deep through the muck of an ox-shed.

WHAT JUST HAPPENED?(TBC) Directed by: Barry Levinson Starring: Robert De Niro, Bruce Willis, Stanley Tucci Release: 10/10/2008 Synopsis: "What Just Happened?" is based on producer Art Linson's book "What Just Happened? Bitter Hollywood Tales from the Front Line", the film version tells the story of one very successful Hollywood producer, and the ways in which he juggles multiple professional crises, as well as some prickly domestic issues at the same time. "Robert De Niro" is our movie producer, doing his best "sly" comedic work since (probably) Wag the Dog. John Turturro is the archetypal agent: skittish, shifty, and packing a nasty ulcer. Stanley Tucci is the writer who needs our protagonist for professional reasons, but pursues his ex-wife (Robin Wright Penn) for other activities. Michael Wincott is the drug-infested director whose ultra-edgy film is being mangled by horrifying studio boss Catherine Keener. "What Just Happened?" is by all means a colorful and funny expose of modern-day Hollywood, depicting how outrageous and unbelievable it is that art turns into pure commerce.
THE ROCKER(12A) Directed by: Peter Cattaneo Starring: Rainn Wilson, Teddy Geiger, Emma Stone Release: 17/10/2008 Synopsis: "The Rocker" tells a story about a failed rock star who gets his second chance at the fame he always thought he deserved. Robert 'Fish' Fishman (Rainn Wilson) is an extremely dedicated and passionate drummer for the eighties hair band Vesuvius. He is living the rock 'n' roll dream until he is unceremoniously kicked out of the group. Unfortunately for Fish, this is just before the band Vesuvius turns into one of the biggest bands in the world. Twenty years later after his rock band fantasy's had been destroyed, just as he was giving up hope - he finds a tiny glimmer of it in the shape of his nephew's high school band. The teen band's drummer has been grounded now it's up to Fish to take his place at their prom gig and help fulfil their dreams of making it big on You Tube. With their talent, and his desperation they might just succeed.
