Cineworld Chester closed Thursday, 10 October 2013

You may have heard that sadly Cineworld Chester permanently closed on Thursday, 10 October 2013.

Thank you for your custom and support over the last 23 years, your nearest Cineworld cinema is in Runcorn.

Cineworld Broughton, an 11 screen IMAX cinema will be opening in 2015.

The cinema closed with goodbye screenings of Ghost and Home Alone - the films we opened with back in 1990!

On Thursday 10th October, all tickets were £2.50.

1. Why is this happening?
Our cinema lease is coming to an end and the landowner has decided to redevelop the land to include a large retail unit.

2. Where is my nearest Cineworld cinema?
The nearest Cineworld cinema is now at Runcorn which is 19 miles from Chester.

3. What happens for Unlimited customers who don’t want to travel to Runcorn?
Chester Cineworld Unlimited customers have been sent a letter explaining their options. For any additional queries, cardholders can call the Unlimited helpline on 0844 372 3445 or ‘’.

4. You are meant to be running educational screenings for some local schools, are these going to be cancelled?
We have spoken to the schools and are currently looking into alternative options for these screenings.

5. I have booked to see a screening after October 10th, can I get a refund?
Yes of course, we have already attempted to contact and refund the small number of customers who have made bookings for after October 10th. If your refund has not gone through, please contact Customer Services at 0844 815 7747 or ‘’ and we will be able to process that directly.
